He exchanged his poems with the governess Margaretha of Austria who was herself a poet.

“Look at our faces and likenesses, O curious ones, full of arrogance. You have a clear mirror at present. Alas, what is the value of great pride and pomp, rich clothes, houses, and great finances? All must be left.”

The IRPA, under the direction of Mr. Sam Huysmans, took charge of this restoration. The flaking areas of the stone were locally fixed by injecting mortar into this Tournai stone. They discovered that the epitaph was polychrome.
A raking light will be installed to improve legibility.
