Staff from the 19th century with the representation of the fisherman boat carrying the statue of the Virgin
Staff in ebony and silver by the silversmith Dupont and dated May 20, 1855. It represents the translation of the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary from Antwerp to Brussels in 1348, a theme found more than 10 times in the church. It was the reception in the wooden chapel of the Oath of the Crossbowmen at the Sablon, at the time located outside the city walls, which attracted a large number of faithful and was the reason for the construction of the current church. From the 19th century and until the 1950s it was customary in churches for a guard with a staff or halberd to keep order during Masses. He was also called “Suisse” in reference to the Swiss guards at the Vatican.
The Swiss to N-D at Sablon in 1945.
