Bonbonnière showing the southern portal of the church
This bonbonnière was produced by the famous Belgian porcelain manufacturer Demeuldre-Coché, which had a major influence on Brussels for almost two centuries. The famous decorator and landscape artist Fernand de Valeriola was commissioned to produce this view, taking over from his father Emile. He worked there from 1922 to 1936. He produced many views of Belgium and usually signed his work f.d.v. .
You can see the houses attached t to the church which existed until the rue de la Régence was created in the 19th
century and the church restored by the architects Auguste Schoy and Jules-Jacques and Maurice Van Ysendyck, who were pupils of the famous Violet-le-Duc. They produced a remarkable work here. You will notice that the roofs were considerably modified since their restoration, with the addition of buttresses and numerous decorations.
The portal shown here, on the other hand, had remained unchanged since the choir was built in the 15th century.
