The Altar of the Sacred Heart

The altar dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is in neo-Gothic style. It was the altar of one
of the brotherhoods of the Sablon parish.

On the left is a scene evoking the meeting of the resurrected Christ with the Companions of Emmaus.
of Emmaus. On the right we see Christ appearing to Saint Lutgarde of Tongeren, one of the
greatest mystical nuns of the 13th century. From this period, she spread
devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
